A few days ago I was thinking back to when I wanted to start blogging. I had two kids and wanted to know how to make money from home. The problem was, I had no idea how to start. So, I sat with the idea for a long time and did nothing. One day my spouse was talking to a coworker that claimed he made decent money blogging. He called me on the phone and allowed me to ask his friend many questions. That night I started my blog. Our conversation only lasted about ten minutes and I certainly did not learn everything, but I learned how to atleast start blogging.

I decided to write this blog to those of you who ask How Can I Make Money by Blogging? I will keep this easy, simple and just explain how to start!

You CAN make money from blogging!
Before we begin, I thought it would be interesting for me to share how much money I make blogging. I started out just making pennies and writing alot. I kept with it and wrote about 4 articles a day for about 4 or 5 months and then was making about $100 a month. We ran into financial hard times, as my husband was out of work for a while, so I put blogging on hold. I was just not making enough money to keep blogging. So I worked other online jobs and continued to see the $100 a month, without doing a thing. This past February I was able to get back to blogging and decided to blog about three articles every single day. By March I doubled my income and was at $200. In April I was at almost $500. In may blogging I made just over $1000. In June the money I made blogging was just over $2000. And July I had $2500 blogging!

Where and how to start!
Find a site to blog at, I write at Blogger. Now brainstorm and come up with a niche. A niche is a topic you want to write about. It is best to chose a topic not many other people are blogging about. You also want to find a subject that you will be able to blog about for months to come. You do not want to run out of ideas after 10 posts. Now that you have your blogging idea, set up your Blogger account. It is very simple, costs no money and they literally walk you through every step of the way. You get paid when people or visitors click on your ads. The ads will appear around or to the sides and top of each of your blogs. These come from Google Adsense and Blogger places the ads for you.

Patience at first and just write
I am not going to go over every last tip. Will leave that for another post, this post is How Can I Make Money by Blogging?  I want the beginner, like I once was, know how to start blogging. But I will share some things you may need to know. Blog often and do not get discouraged in the beginning. This is why many people fail at blogging. Had I not restarted back up in February I would have had no idea on how much money I could truly make.

Keywords and similar ways to say the same thing 
Your title and key words are important! Be sure to include your title, as you can see I did, many times throughout your article. You also want to include words that are similarly related.  This will help the search engines understand what your blog is about. VERY IMPORTANT. A mistake I made in the beginning was writing improper. I thought in a blog you were supposed to write like you were talking to a friend. No, write proper English so your visitors find you professional and want to keep reading.

How Can I Make Money by Blogging- what to write about!
At Blogger you can have many different blogs, all with different topics. I have about ten different blogs all with different subjects. This way you will be able to see what works and what does not. The key to making money blogging is getting traffic. You will see at the bottom of each blog you can post it to Google Buzz, share your blogging on Twitter, Facebook and even email it to friends. I also copy the url at the top of the page. That is the http: and add my url to Google and Bing!

Well, I must say I am very discouraged with online sites. Ehow was a great site to make money online until they pulled the carpet under our feet. I was very disappointed at first, that we could no longer write new "How To's" but was happy to see what we did write we can still make money on. Although the amount went down, I still can count on a check for $65 a month and I have not written in 6 months.

Zazzle is still pretty good. I have not made any new products and I make money every month, about $50 a month.

The past 3 months I have turned my focuses to Mahalo. (That is why I have not been blogging.) I seen great potential to REALLY MAKE MONEY ONLINE there! The second month I made $325, and this is my third month and payout looks like about $825. I was answering questions, asking questions, managing pages I wrote (about 100!) and was on the Guru team. Once again the rug has been pulled from under me. Just as I found a legitimate way to really make big bucks (I had figured I would have been up to $2000 a month in 6 months or less)  Mahalo changed. But we do NOT get to keep the pages we wrote. They all have been taking from us, so no more adsense earnings on them. I feel cheated and so discouraged. How can Mahalo do this? They have hired just 50 Guide managers to manage all the pages people wrote and to make new pages. They will get paid $1000 to $1500 a month. Of course I did not get picked. There were hundreds of applicants and little spots, I am too new, the veterans got the spots. The pay for the rest of us on questions and answers can not be cashed out, you can buy a gift card period. I have been waiting for the big LOTTERY. I spent the past 3 months writing and working at Mahalo 13 hours a day. I gave my heart, sweat and tears, and it is gone. So who gets all the adsense earnings from the pages we and I wrote? Mahalo, of course. If that is not stealing, I do not know what is.

I wrote this article, just blogging my feelings. I am now doing well at blogging since I have put alot more energy and time into it. I guess I finally learned the tricks of the trade.

So, back to trying the blog again. It has not paid in the past, we shall see.

You can create your Blog here at Blogger, which is a very reputable site. There are many other legitimate sites to start your own blog, as well. Sign up is free and never a cost to you.

Starting Your Own Blog- How do you get paid?
Once you create your Blog at Blogger, you will notice they will allow you to automatically put Google AdSense ads up around your blog. If you do not have a Google AdSense account, they help you with that, as well. When someone clicks on an ad on your blog, you get paid.

You can take this a step further and sign up as an Affiliate with Amazon and or Clickbank, again for free, and put their ads around your blog, as well.

Starting Your Own Blog- Choose a Topic
It is best to create a "Niche Topic" which means a specific topic for your blog. For example, your blog may be about "Hand Stamping and Creating Cards" and in this blog you can post as often as you would like. The more posts, the better. Within that subject you may post about "Supplies Needed to Stamp Cards" and the next post may be "Making Birthday cards."

At Blogger you can create many different Blogs in your one account. So keep each Blog subject specific.

Starting Your Own Blog- Getting Traffic, the Basics
Not only do you want a good quality blog with lots of information, but you want your site found by being ranked well in the search engines. This topic is an article in it's own, but I will share the basics.

First, never stop learning. Learn as much as you can about SEO, Blogging in general, Getting traffic to your site and promoting.

Choose your keywords. At Blogger they will ask your keywords after you write your blog. They call it labels. Now you want to make sure your keywords are in the Title and many times through the articles without getting spammy. This is the major key to getting your article found.

The key is to find searched keywords, that pay well per click and there is not alot of articles written about the particular subject. You can use Google Keyword Tool Click Here for Google Keyword Free tool to find keywords. Put your keyword in and hit submit. Next you will see below and to the right "Choose Columns to Display" click "Show estimated average cpc" this will give you a good idea on what keywords pay better than others. It also shows how many times those words were searched in the past month

Take this a step further and personally search your keywords. Do many pages come up? You want to find keywords that do NOT have alot written already, so YOUR blog comes up higher ranked in the search engines.

Find your Url to each post you make in your blog by clicking "File" and then "Properties" and then you will see your Url. You can go to to Google and Bing and hand submit your url. I am pretty new at Mahalo, but so far I love it. There are many ways to make money there, one of which is simply answering questions! I have been there about a week and spent maybe 45 minutes there and so far have made $14. Update, Mahalo has changed alot since I wrote this. You need to submit an application there to become a writer.
